When I first started playing Age of Empires in the 90s, I absolutely fell in love with it. I had not played that type of game before (RTS or Real Time Strategy). It was one of those games that I kept playing and kept getting better at it. I searched for and consumed any and all how-to guides on playing the game. I had the process down — how many villagers to put on food, then wood, then stone, gold, etc. I could beat the computer about 9 out of 10 times, and I loved playing against my friends (I only had one friend that could even beat me on a regular basis, and he was my cousin that was more like a brother than anything else).
So, when Microsoft announced Age of Empires IV, I knew I had to play it. Boy! Am I rusty!!!
This video is a skirmish attempt which lasts a little under 40 minutes. Me against the machine with the A.I. on Easy; I thought I had a chance. I was wrong. This is just game play; I didn’t record me saying anything during the session.
